Why is Decentralization stupid, backward, and inefficient; and centralization smart and progressive?

.... That's way to generalized to answer fairly. Some things are better done collectively, such as fire, police, libraries, highways, parks, etc. Some are better done privately, such as home ownership, most businesses, etc.
