What to expect from a wax?

Sorry if this is tmi, but I'm considering getting my first wax because I'm tired of the hair. I've decided to go to a professional because I tried sugaring at home and it was painful and inefficient. However, I'm confused about what exactly to expect with a Bikini was vs a Brazilian. I want to get my bikini line does as well as my lips and lower stomach and butt. I don't think I want to hair in the "v" area taken off. Will a bikini wax cover all of that? Or will I have to get a Brazilian? And what should I do if it turns out the wax is too painful?
